Consider these solutions only if nothing happens when you are trying to use Flashnote Derby in Listen mode (i.e. play-to-answer).

First, insure that Listen mode is selected as the answering method.

How to select listen mode
  1. Tap the settings icon at the top of the screen.
  2. Look through the list of settings and tap Answer Method
  3. If Listen mode is not already selected with a checkmark, tap to select it now.

If Flashnote Derby still fails to hear you playing notes to answer, make sure the app has permission to access the microphone (system settings).

Enable the microphone for Flashnote Derby in system settings
  1. From the home screen of your iPhone or iPad, find the Settings app and tap to open it.
  2. Scroll down through the long list of entries until you find the settings for Flashnote and tap it.
  3. Make sure the switch next to Microphone is on.

Additional tips

You must hold down the note long enough for Flashnote Derby to analyze and determine which pitch you are playing. Try holding the notes longer and/or playing them a bit louder, especially if you have lowered the sensitivity setting to mask background sounds.

In particularly noisy environments, Flashnote Derby may be unable to determine the pitch you are playing regardless of the sensitivity setting or how long you hold the note.
